Lara Reid

Originally from St. Andrews, Lara Reid went to Aberdeen University in 1996 to study geology and somehow came out with a degree in English and Scottish Literature four years later. After ten years as an English teacher, Lara returned to her interest in the natural sciences and has spent the past five years working as a freelance science writer and editor. Lara also works voluntarily for the Scottish Geodiversity Forum and the Friends of Hugh Miller charity. Her fascination with literature, poetry and geology inspired her to organise and run the first Hugh Miller Writing Competition on behalf of these two organisations in 2015-16.
