Jess Orr

Jess Orr is a third year PhD student in the School of English at the University of St Andrews, undertaking research into the fiction of Scottish writer Ali Smith. She has previously worked with organisations including the Edinburgh International Book Festival, Scottish Book Trust and Festivals Edinburgh, and recently programmed literature events for the Audacious Women festival in Edinburgh. She is also an avid teacher and workshop leader, and currently runs a weekly reading group at the Grassmarket Community Project. This year she became reader in residence at the Glasgow Women’s Library, which has involved, amongst other projects, helping to organise the first ever festival of Scottish women’s writing, Open the Door.
