Valerie Gillies

Valerie Gillies has been the Edinburgh Makar, poet laureate to the city, a Royal Literary Fellow and an Associate of Harvard University. She is the facilitator for the Creative Writing and Journalling groups at Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre, Edinburgh, and a trainer for Lapidus in the literary arts. Travelling to the healing wells of Scotland and Ireland, Valerie’s landmark poems inspired by these locations are collected in The Spring Teller. She continues to walk and write the poetry of place, this year in Orkney and the Outer Hebrides.
