The Byre Theatre, Abbey Street - Auditorium

A two-day symposium featuring collaboration between theologians, composers and poets

StAnza is working in partnership with the Institute of Theology, Imagination and the Arts (ITIA) on their project to encourage new music and poetry responding to scriptural passages. Six theologians have been working with six composers under the mentorship of Sir James McMillan, and separately with six poets, selected by StAnza from more than fifty who applied to take part. Michael Symmons Roberts will mentor the poets who will meet with their composer partners in St Andrews on 6 March, as part of a two-day symposium arranged by ITIA, to work on their draft poems, versions of some of which will be read at a StAnza event on Sunday 11 March.

The symposium is open to the public and free to attend. The main events take place in the Byre Theatre but part of the programme takes place in other venues in St Andrews. Check the programme at the link below for full details.
