StAnza’s Listening Booth: Wrathbones

Thursday 7 March, 10:00 - Sunday 10 March, 22:00
Byre Theatre, Abbey Street - Level 2 Foyer

New audio works in Spanish and English from Juana Adcock

Our virtual listening booth returns for 2019! Settle yourself down in the Byre with a set of headphones from the balcony on level 2 and relax.

The Scottish/Mexican poet Juana Adcock was recently invited to produce new work responding to the notion of multi- or polylingual poetry for London's Babelsprech event. The result is an audio installation interweaving the voices of poets working in different languages – from French to Shetlandic, Slovakian to Maltese, to name just a few. Making strong use of rhyme, slant rhyme and alliteration between languages, the piece encourages listeners to pay attention to the sound and musicality of words, and plays with many different approaches to translation. Also playing as a sound installation outside the Byre.
