Events - Festival 2019

Thursday 2 March, 13:00 - Saturday 4 March, 17:00
Public Library, Church Square - Meeting Room

Ekphrastic poetry responding to new artwork at the festival

A number of ekphrastic poets from Words on Canvas respond to the work of StAnza’s 2016 artist in residence, Hilke MacIntyre, and her Rhythm & Lines exhibition for StAnza 2017, on display in the Byre Theatre. Just as her work responded to the 2016 festival and its poetry, so their new work adds a further layer of cross-arts engagement in action.

Words on Canvas is a writing collective based at the National Galleries of Scotland. They have produced two pamphlets, responded to exhibitions at the Pittenweem Festival and by the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour in Edinburgh and Perth, as well as giving numerous public readings. They are the subject of a forthcoming book by Edinburgh University's Chancellor’s Fellow, Dr Shari Sabeti.

Presented in partnership with Fife Cultural Trust Libraries, Arts & Museums and Words on Canvas
