The Red Letter Library
This year StAnza was gifted a selection of poetry books from The Red Letter Library, published by the Gresham Publishing Company and Blackie Limited of Glasgow under the title ‘A Library of Choice Poetry’ around 1903. The books feature designs on the front cover, spine, title and endpapers by the graphic artist Talwin Morris (1865-1911), who moved in the same set as Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Morris’s book designs introduced a wide audience to the Glasgow Style. We have invited a poet to respond to each volume and the resulting poems will be on display at StAnza along with the books.
