Astrid Jaekel responds to ocean-themed poems

As artist in residence for StAnza 2019/20, Astrid Jaekel has responded to the work of German poet and artist Arne Rautenberg and particularly to Arne’s poem ‘I declare the plastic debris of the oceans’ (translated by Ken Cockburn). In Plastik (Kunst), the title of which plays on the German word for a sculpture, Astrid exhibits her work responding to Arne, as well as her lasercuts of Beachcomber, a response to the George Mackay Brown poem which can otherwise be seen adorning Edinburgh’s Rose Street.
