Necessarily Looking Backward
During 2018, the National Library of Scotland is leading celebrations to mark the centenary of the birth of Muriel Spark, one of Scotland’s best loved – and most quoted – writers of the twentieth century. Despite being best known as novelist, Spark very much saw herself as a poet and so we're particularly pleased to be able to celebrate her work through poetry. StAnza has commissioned a number of poets to write new poems responding to favourite quotes from Muriel Spark’s novels. Whether you're a devoted Spark fan, or are yet to meet Miss Jean Brodie, come along and listen as the poets read their new works and discuss the influence of Muriel Spark.
