Moving Through Maps

The Byre Theatre, Abbey Street - Level 1 & 2 Foyers

A poetry and multi-media art show exploring how human beings can experience moving through landscapes, real and imagined

Pupils are inspired by the poetry of Norman MacCaig, Helen Mort and Paul Verlaine in this exhibition curated by Wendy Orr. Using the visual images of ordinance survey maps, street maps and nature photography, they explore the landscapes of Scottish and French mountains and cities.  These original poem-collages have been created by pupils from Waid Academy using a variety of materials including string, wire, plaster, thread, sandpaper and acrylic paint - and even their French dictionaries.
