Mapping the World in Poetry

Thursday 8 March, 10:00 - Sunday 11 March, 22:00
The Byre Theatre, Abbey Street - Level 4 Gallery

A poetic map of the world launched to celebrate our twentieth year and twenty first festival

The German author Christa Wolf once suggested that literature can offer a way of mapping the world, allowing us to map our relationships, our landscapes and ourselves and to see the relationships, landscapes and people across borders and across walls. As Scotland's international poetry festival, StAnza has always looked to fill in the details on this map.

To celebrate StAnza's twentieth festival in 2017 and our twentieth anniversary in 2018, we've been asking one poet from every language and every country ever featured at StAnza to record themselves reading a poem, and we're putting these together to create a multilingual audio-installation. We launched this poetic map of the world at StAnza 2017, with the first few voices, and are continuing to add to it. Take a listen!
