In the Ink Dark

Thursday 7 March, 09:15 - Sunday 10 March, 17:00
J & G Innes Ltd, Booksellers, South Street - Upstairs Gallery

An installation that explores memory and materiality to find language for loss

Dreamt as a living poem, it is a wander along the water, a seat beside someone on a bench, a conversation, a landscape of words, written with bodies, a space for you to reflect, remember, imagine, in honour of things loved and lost.

In the Ink Dark showcases elements of a project by Luke Pell and collaborators: a dance and a poem made from memory and conversation. A series of conversations and encounters with different people in Leith and Edinburgh over May and June 2017 led to a week of live dance performances in unique spaces across the city, opening as part of LeithLate17 in the Leith Theatre. Luke is now working towards making new site-responsive reiterations of the work for the summer of 2019.
