The Eternally Packed Suitcase: Lisa Matthews
The painter L.S. Lowry kept an eternally packed suitcase in his hallway as a tool for escaping unwanted encounters - with the explanation that he had to depart imminantly. Taking this as a starting point, poet Lisa Matthews' collection The Eternally Packed Suitcase (Vane Women Press, 2015) explores the acts of journeying and departing, both physically and metaphorically. In an installation which showcases a selection of Matthews' poetry in and on our own eternally packed suitcase, we reflect on the poetry of journeys and the way in which poetry journeys with us.
