Poets and translators discuss how translation works as conversation

Wake up and smell the Poetry Café! Ease into the last day of the festival, with coffee and pastries, while a group of the festival’s poets and translators discuss ways in which poetry translation both is and initiates dialogue. Writer Lauren Elkin claims that translation is more than a grammar: it is a listening. This statement encapsulates the way in which translation – even across an expanse of time and place – can be the most intimate of conversations.

Tom Pow is guest chair for this panel discussion. He will be joined by translator Madeleine Campbell and two poets who are also translators, from Spanish and German respectively.

Presented with the support Fisher & Donaldson and in association with A Year of Conversation
