The Appointed Hour

Saturday 4 March, 12:00 - 16:10
The Town Hall, Queens Gardens - Upstairs Foyer

A workshop on writing in collaboration, led by Roderick Manson

Inspired by a 1999 musical collaboration between Peter Hammill and Roger Eno, The Appointed Hour, curated by Roderick Manson, is a unique experiment in location, collaboration and chance.  Each participant will spend one hour writing at/in one of eight historical, sporting or literary locations around St Andrews.  (All venues will have shelter and be within easy walking distance just in case the weather is excessively Scottish).  They will then reconvene at the Town Hall where they will be divided into pairs by a second random draw and each pair will then be given one hour to produce a collaborative piece from the words written in the initial hour.  The resulting works will be read at a short public performance in the Supper Room at the Town Hall at about 15.55, and filmed to appear on the Stanza website.  Fearless volunteers (or even fearful ones) are invited to email to book a place.

With thanks to Historic Scotland, the British Golf Museum, St Andrews Preservation Trust, MUSA, J & G Innes and St Andrews FCT library
